Compensation for surgery errors might be possible

In our previous blog post, we discussed how patient identification errors can largely be prevented. In fact, one theory we noted in that post claimed that all patient identification errors might be preventable. Those types of errors are only one small facet of the errors that can occur in surgery.

We understand that errors in surgery are some very serious occurrences. Having the wrong body part operated on, having items left inside the surgical area or having infections run rampant after the surgery are all horrible experiences. All of these can have effects that alter the remainder of the victim’s days. Think about how much an active person would be affected by having a limb amputated when they were going into surgery for an appendectomy. That is an extreme example, but not one that would be impossible.

There is an option for people who have suffered from a surgery error. These victims might choose to seek compensation for their injuries. This compensation wouldn’t take away the life-long effects of the error, but it could help to make those days a bit easier. Compensation could take away some of the financial pressure that the victim is under. It could help the victim to get the care and other things that he or she needs to live the best life possible.

We understand that you might not feel up to a long and drawn out process. Your energy might be limited. While we won’t be able to do everything for you, we can work to fight the legal battle for you so that your available energy can be spent healing and living.
