4 killed in accident on I-77

Traveling on interstate highways in South Carolina and other states comes with risks due to the higher speeds and volume of traffic. Accidents on busy highways can be serious and even fatal. A recent accident on I-77 shows just how deadly these types of accidents can be, especially when vehicles collide head-on.

Details of the accident

This head-on collision happened on I-77 early on a Sunday morning while it was still dark outside. Two vehicles were involved in the crash, a Honda Civic and a Chevy pickup. The pickup truck was traveling in the northbound lane when it veered into oncoming traffic, where it collided head-on with the Honda. Out of the four people involved in the crash, three were killed. The lone survivor was a passenger in the Honda.

There is some conflicting information about the accident. Investigators were led to believe another car may have been involved, but that information is not available at this time. This accident led to a closure of the southbound lanes for several hours. Further investigations may reveal what caused the accident to happen and if anyone was at fault.

Head-on collisions on interstate highways are not as common as those on smaller two-lane roads, but when they happen, the results can be disastrous. Losing a loved one in such an unexpected way will leave a family grieving, but they can also be left with many expenses related to the death of their loved one. South Carolina residents who have lost a loved one in a car accident can seek legal advice from a personal injury attorney to understand their options for seeking damages from the driver at fault.
