2 killed in head-on collision

South Carolina drivers have many hazards to consider when driving on the state’s roads. Inattentive and negligent drivers cause many accidents, some of which are very serious. A head-on collision, especially at a high rate of speed, can significantly damage the vehicles involved and severely injure or kills the vehicles’ occupants. Sadly, a recent crash in Chesterfield County killed two and injured two others.

What led to the accident?

This two-car collision happened on a Wednesday evening on Middendorf Road. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a Kia SUV was traveling in the northbound lane when it went off the right side of the road. The driver then veered back onto the road and crossed the line into oncoming traffic. The SUV struck a sedan head-on then went off the road and flipped over.

Both drivers were killed in the accident. Two others were seriously injured in the crash. The passenger in the SUV and the passenger in the sedan were both taken to a nearby hospital by helicopter. The accident is under investigation by the Highway Patrol. They will try to determine what caused the accident and which driver, if either, may have been at fault.

Help for accident victims

Suffering injuries in a serious motor vehicle accident can be life-changing. When someone is injured, or a family loses a loved one in a crash, they may be able to file a lawsuit and seek compensation to help offset the costs of injuries and other accident-related expenses. South Carolina accident victims or surviving family members can consult an attorney for legal advice related to their circumstances.
