Accident in Kershaw County kills 2 motorcyclists

Motorcyclists must use extra vigilance when driving on South Carolina’s roads. Because motorcycles are harder to see than larger vehicles, they can be more likely to be involved in a serious accident. When a motorcyclist is involved in an accident, the results can be serious or even fatal. Recently, an accident in Kershaw County left two dead after a motorcycle collided with an SUV.

What caused the accident?

The collision happened on a Sunday evening around six miles north of Elgin. A motorcycle was traveling on Smyrna Road when it collided with a Chevrolet SUV. The SUV was pulling out of a private driveway onto the road. The motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the SUV, killing the driver on impact. The motorcycle passenger was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

The driver of the SUV, a 21-year-old male was also injured in the accident. Authorities are still investigating the crash to see what may have caused it. No charges have been filed at this time, and there is no further information on who, if anyone, was at fault in the crash.

Seeking help after a motor vehicle accident

Accident victims can be left with lifelong injuries and a significant financial burden in the aftermath of a serious car crash. When someone passes away in an accident, their family members can also suffer greatly both emotionally and financially. South Carolina accident victims or their family members have the right to seek compensation when another driver was at fault in the accident. Speaking with an experienced personal injury attorney can provide all the information needed to proceed forward with a civil case against the person at fault.
